Leigh Darghan

Leigh Dargan’s journey began in Namibia, where she was born into a sports-mad family. As a child, she moved to the UK, bringing with her a passion for athletics that would shape much of her early life. Her sporting talents quickly became apparent, and she proudly competed for English Schools Athletics, laying the foundations for a lifelong connection to sport and discipline. Following school, Leigh embarked on a short but meaningful career in the Royal Navy. While serving, she continued to pursue athletics, representing the Navy and competing at the tri-services level. Leigh also made her mark in rugby, earning the honour of representing Ireland in women’s rugby and proudly contributing to a Grand Slam-winning campaign. After her time in the armed forces, Leigh transitioned into the insurance industry. It was this career path that eventually brought her into close contact with London’s iconic Black Cab trade. Her professional involvement deepened as she joined the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers, one of the City of London’s historic livery companies dedicated to supporting and celebrating the cab trade. After 15 successful years in the industry, Leigh decided to fully immerse herself in the world she had grown to admire. She took on the formidable challenge of studying The Knowledge of London and qualified as a licensed London Hackney Carriage Driver.  Outside of work, Leigh is a passionate traveler and foodie. She enjoys dining out, good wine, and exploring new cultures. Most recently, she completed a solo journey to New Zealand. Leigh lives in her beloved East End of London, a community that holds deep meaning for her. She is also a proud mother to two grown-up children.
