Alan Roughan, Upper Warden will be installed as Master on 7th September 2016 at Haberdashers Hall. Has been a licensed London Taxi driver for 35 years. Has been married to Sally for 30 years, and have a daughter Dora, who is studying at Manchester University. We live in Sydenham. Alan was born in 1957 in Peckham South London, went to the local school in Peckham. Served a 4 year apprenticeship and qualified with City and Guilds as a carpenter. Played Semi-professional football for 20 years and progress into football management. Qualified as a cab guide in 2000 and went on to Qualified as a City of London guide. Was Elected to become a Director of Radio Taxis 2002, was key player in the Demutualisation process of Radio Taxis. Though my perseverance and determination Radio Taxis was the first Taxi Company to support the Olympic bid, was part of the committee responsible for driving the Olympic officials to Buckingham Palace. Became a member of the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers in 2002. Was a regular driver on the Children’s magical taxi tour to Disneyland Paris In 2005 was invited onto the Membership Committee and in 2008 became a court assistant. Was invited to become a Committee member for the annual Disneyland trip to Paris in the same year. It’s my responsibility as a team player on the Committee to make sure suppliers deliver the food so that everyone receives a hearty breakfast before we leave for Disneyland Paris.
