Members of the WCHCD, Magical Taxi Tour drivers and Cab Guide Course graduates enjoyed a day out at Regent’s Park Barracks on the annual Safe & Skilled Driving Day with our Army affiliation, 20 Transport Squadron Royal Logistic Corps.
Teams were mixed to give soldiers and cabbies the opportunity to work together on the six challenges, which included land rover trailer reversing, taxi manoeuvrability, and a highway code knowledge test. This was rounded off with a very enjoyable BBQ and drinks as we all got to socialise and share experiences of life behind the wheel in logistics-based jobs.
Congratulations to the aptly named ‘Clever Dicks’ (pictured) on their impressive victory on the day.
It also gave the Master an opportunity to formally congratulate Private Ryan Sibotsha on being this year’s recipient of the company’s award for professional excellence as Ryan had been unable to attend to receive it at the March dinner.
Attention has now already begun to turn toward our joint quiz night which is currently scheduled for late November/early December and we look forward to being back at the barracks to enjoy this regular calendar fixture with 20Sqn.
